TC Adds Mastering 6000 to System 6000 Family

At the recent AES Exhibition in Berlin, TC Electronic launched their new Mastering 6000, a 4-engine digital Mastering processor based on the company's multi-award-winning System 6000 processing platform.

The Mastering 6000 features a custom set of precise timing and high-resolution signal processing tools designed specifically for mastering engineers producing high-quality audio for CD, DVD, SACD and film. With its flexible, license-based software structure, the Mastering 6000 can be easily expanded and augmented with optional processing tools in line with its owner's changing needs.

New limiting & compression algorithms in Mastering 6000 include MD4, featuring a 5-band stereo & MS processor with linear phase split filter topology, an updated Brickwall Limiter that prevents listening fatigue and distortion using internal sample rates of up to 480kHz (5 times upsampling) and new custom A/D/A conversion filters. For multi-channel productions, Mastering 6000 also includes a 5.1 multi-band Compressor/Expander, 5.1 Limiter and 5.1/Stereo Monitor Matrix.

The Mastering 6000 hardware platform features extraordinary jitter rejection, the ability to handle analog inputs of up to +30dBu plus the capability to deal with hot digital levels without distortion and 48-bit internal resolution. Optional software licenses for Mastering 6000 include the acclaimed reverb & delay algorithms from the Reverb 6000,

Massenburg Design Works Hi-Res EQ, "BackDrop" noise reduction and "UnWrap" advanced stereo to 5.1 conversion. Multiple System 6000 processors may be networked to create a pool of processing power and units can be controlled via TC's Icon remote control (or its software equivalents for Mac or PC). This interface provides an easy-to-use yet unobtrusive interface for controlling processing as well as monitors for multiple audio formats.

The System 6000 Platform

TC Electronic's System 6000 is the high-end stereo and multi-channel processing tool for music, post- and broadcast production. With internal double-precision processing, superb jitter rejection and reference-quality AD & DA converters, no other digital processor on the planet comes close to the resolution and performance of the System 6000. The System 6000 platform now provides two entry points: Reverb 6000 and Mastering 6000, each being upgradeable with a wide range of optional processors.
